News 2013-2014
- Roeland Singer-Heinze will pursue a M.S. in Software
Engineering in UC Irvine next Fall.
- Nicholas Brody and Adam Varney have been awarded the
Raymond Wilder award in the mathematics department.
- Kevin Lui has published two papers this year in refereed
journals (See the Research page for more details about his
papers.)
- Sarafina Ford and Taom Sakal have been awarded a Small
Research Grant for Fall 2014.
- AnaSophia Eiseman will be a UC LEADS Scholar for 2014-2016
and her first research project is on the topic
"Generalizations of strongly regular graphs".
- Kevin Gibbons will start a PhD at Standford in the Fall.
- Former student, Nicole Carroll will start a PhD in
Physics at University of Southern California (USC) in the
Fall.
- Mark Rychnovsky, Thomas Hogan and Kevin Gibbons ranked
among the top 500 students in the Putnam competition this
year.
- This year the UCSB Putnam team, consisting of three CCS
students, ranked 30th in the country.
- Nicholas Dibble-Kahn gave a talk at the Pacific Coast
Undergraduate Mathematics Conference (Feb. 2014) on Perfect
Matchings and Latin Squares.
- Kevin Lui has been admitted into the PhD
program in mathematics at the University of Washington and
will be attending this school in the Fall.
- Derek Hollowood has been admitted into the PhD program in
Applied Mathematics in UC Berkeley and UC Los Angeles. He
will be attending Berkeley in the Fall.
- Yingying Wang has got an offer from the PROMYS program to
work as a counselor next summer.
- Nathan Saritzky has been admitted to the PhD program in
mathematics at the University of Washington and will go to
this school in the Fall.
- Adam Varney, Nicholas Brody, Thomas Hogan, and Jordan
Rainone have been admitted to the Master's program in
Mathematical Science at UCSB. Adam, Nicholas, and Thomas
will complete this program before they apply to graduate
school. Jordan Rainone will start a Master's program in
Italy in the Fall.
- Gil Tabak has started a PhD in Stanford.
- Nathan Guillery has started a PhD in University of
Colorado, Boulder.
- Alex Troesch graduated from the Master's program at
UCSB and has started a PhD program in University of
Wisconsin-Madison.
